WordPress を使っている場合の Google sitemap.xml の作成 plugin の導入方法です。
1. 下記からプラグインをダウンロードします。

google-sitemap-generator.3.2.2.zip
2. 解凍したファイルを /wp-content/plugins にuploadします。
3. 管理画面から「Plugins」⇒「Google XML-sitemap」で有効化します。
4. 有効化したあと「Options」⇒「XML-sitemap」で各種設定をします。
導入した最初の時には下記のメッセージが出ているので下記をクリックします。
The sitemap wasn’t built yet. Click here to build it the first time.

サイトによると Ask.com, Google, YAHOO and MSN Search のフォーマットに対応しているようです。
